The El Paso area was abuzz with high school sports action on Monday, April 15. In softball, Chapin emerged victorious over El Paso High with a score of 13-2. Fatima Hernandez had a standout performance, hitting a home run and contributing 2 RBIs to the win. Yari Acosta and Nialani Mata also had solid performances at the plate.
Meanwhile in baseball, Riverside came out on top against Bowie with a score of 15-3. Ferreyra pitched a great game, striking out 8 batters and leading the team’s offensive charge. Louie Lopez, Tavo Sanchez, Evan Martinez, and Daniel Terrazas all had solid performances at the plate for Ysleta as they emerged victorious with a 17-5 win over Parkland. Olivas hit a home run with 2 RBIs to contribute to the victory.
In another softball game, Canutillo shut out Andress with a score of 14-0. I. Garza led the team both on the mound and at the plate, while Melendez, Fargas, and Guerra were also key contributors to the team’s success.
