Emily Sexton, the CEO of Henry Ford Health’s new behavioral health hospital in West Bloomfield, has been appointed to lead the facility. During a recent episode of Michigan Matters, Sexton discussed the importance of mental wellness and how the new hospital will build on existing services provided by Henry Ford in West Bloomfield. The two-story hospital, which is expected to open later this year, will have 192 beds for inpatient care and serve as an academic site for future behavioral healthcare providers.
During the discussion, Sexton joined a roundtable with Elizabeth Hertel, Director of Michigan’s Health and Human Services Department, and Eric Hipple, former Detroit Lions quarterback and mental health advocate. Hertel highlighted more than $360 million in investments made by MDHHS over the past two years to support families in need of behavioral health services. Hipple shared his advocacy work for mental health and wellness, partnering with organizations like the NFL and the University of Michigan.
The leaders discussed efforts in the region to support individuals dealing with mental health issues. They emphasized the importance of addressing mental health concerns and providing accessible resources to those who need them.
