On April 20, a training on Youth Mental Health First Aid will be held at the Cottonwood County Historical Society in Windom. The session is led by facilitators from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and is specifically designed for individuals who work with young people.
The training will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and it will be offered in Spanish to reach a broader audience. The goal of this program is to equip attendees with the skills to recognize signs of mental illness, identify signs of substance use disorder, offer support during a mental health crisis, and engage in conversations with family and friends about mental health.
This training is intended for adults only and will include a light breakfast served at 7:30 a.m., as well as lunch provided for all participants. In addition to the valuable skills gained from the training, participants will also receive a $25 gift card and a certificate of participation upon completion.
The facilitators leading the training include an outreach project specialist and a Ph.D. student, who bring extensive knowledge and expertise to this topic.
