FloSports, an Austin-based global sports media company, has recently been recognized for its excellence in the Video Athlete Profile category at the AIPS Sports Media Awards. The prestigious international awards received over 1,800 submissions from 141 countries across 11 categories, with entries going through various review stages before the final selection.
The feature “Bob Beamon: The Legacy Beyond The Leap” was named as a top three finalist in the Video Athlete Profile category, showcasing the intersection of the Civil rights movement and Beamon’s historic long jump record at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City. Published during Black History Month in 2023, the story was featured on FloTrack and MileSplit channels and garnered recognition for FloSports in this category for the third consecutive year. Previous entries “Allie Ostrander: Under Pressure, Gaining Your Life Back” and “Caitlin Little: Fifteen Forever,” also made it to the top ten in previous years.
In addition to this recognition, FloSports was also acknowledged in two other categories during the AIPS Sports Media Awards. “Noor’s Pursuit: A Young Muslim Woman’s Fight For Equality,” a longform feature story on MileSplit, was celebrated for Best Color Piece and “San Elizario: Una Forma De Vida,” a longform feature documentary on MileSplit, was recognized for Video Documentary. The winners of each category will receive cash prizes, with the overall winner taking home $8,000 and runners-up receiving $3,000 while third-place finishers will get $2,000.
