Caleb Holt, a sophomore at Buckhorn High School in Alabama, made history by winning the state’s 42nd Mr. Basketball award from the Alabama Sports Writers Association. He also secured the Class 6A Player of the Year honors for the second consecutive year at a recent high school basketball banquet in Montgomery.
Holt’s impressive stats for the season included averaging 20.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, three steals, and 2.4 assists, leading his team to a 23-5 record. He was named MVP of the Class 6A state tournament and helped his team win back-to-back state titles. In addition to these accolades, Holt was honored as the Gatorade and MaxPreps Alabama Player of the Year.
Despite his success, Holt remains focused on his goals. He is ranked as the No. 3 player nationally by 247 Sports and is considered the top in-state player in the Class of 2026. With two years of high school remaining, he has already scored 1,798 points and has aspirations to make the U17 USA Basketball team and lead his team to more state championships, with the ultimate goal of competing for a national championship.
As Holt continues to excel on the court, he credits his father for keeping him humble and pushing him to be the best player he can be. With top programs like Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Houston, and Cincinnati offering him scholarships, Holt is highly sought after by recruiters looking to sign this talented young athlete
