A 36-year-old male tour guide in Ho Chi Minh City is recovering from severe injuries after a boat carrying 42 foreign guests collided with a ferry on the Tien River. The patient, who has not been identified, suffered a severed elbow and other injuries that required emergency surgery, including amputation of his arm.
The accident occurred on April 19 and left several passengers with injuries requiring treatment at a nearby hospital. Among them were German and French tourists who were among the passengers on the boat. The cause of the collision is still being investigated, but both the ship’s crew and the ferry driver tested negative for alcohol and drugs.
The patient is currently in intensive care at Cho Ray Hospital, where he is receiving treatment for his injuries. Despite the efforts of the medical team, they were unable to save his arm. This incident highlights the dangers of water transportation and underscores the importance of safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
The company responsible for the boat and authorities are working together to ensure that safety measures are in place to prevent similar incidents in the future. The investigation into the cause of the collision continues as officials work to determine how it could have been prevented.
