IndianOil Corp. Ltd. (IOCL) has recently selected Lummus Technology’s cumene technology for a new unit in Paradip, India, further strengthening their relationship with the company. This is Lummus’ second recent cumene license in India and marks an important milestone in their partnership with IOCL. The new cumene unit is part of a petrochemical and polymers expansion project at IndianOil’s complex in Paradip.
The cumene technology offered by Lummus will provide IOCL with lower energy costs, operational efficiency, and exceptional product yield. This will help IOCL optimize their plant economics and support their growth initiatives. Romain Lemoine, Chief Business Officer for Polymers and Petrochemicals at Lummus Technology, expressed excitement about continuing to work with IndianOil on this successful project and further building on their long-time relationship.
Lummus’ scope of work for this project includes the technology license for the cumene technology, basic design engineering, proprietary catalyst, site services, advisory services, and training. IOCL has previously licensed multiple technologies from Lummus for complexes across India, including naphtha cracker, INDMAX FCC, and polypropylene technologies.
