Metsä Board commits 60 million euros to upgrading cardboard machine

Metsä Group’s subsidiary, Metsä Board, has announced an investment of approximately EUR 60 million in the renovation of a folding carton machine located in Simpele. The investment is part of a larger program aimed at modernizing the cardboard factory, which was announced on March 21. This program will be implemented over the next ten years with the goal of enhancing production capabilities and sustainability.

The renovation of the folding board machine is expected to improve its quality and increase production efficiency. As a result, the factory’s production capacity will increase by about 10,000 tons, bringing the annual production capacity of Simpele folding carton to approximately 310,000 tons. This decision reflects Metsä Board’s commitment to innovation and sustainability and represents a significant step towards improving the operations and environmental impact of their cardboard production processes.

The company has stated that this investment will commence immediately and is expected to be completed in the second half of 2025. The value of this investment represents a significant commitment by Metsä Group towards sustainable manufacturing practices and underscores their dedication to producing high-quality products while minimizing their environmental footprint.
