During our visit to the Fort William World Cup pits, we witnessed the dedication and passion of both factory team riders and privateers. While factory team riders like Greg Minnaar, Tahnee Seagrave, Nina Hoffmann, and others have access to the latest bikes and technology, it’s the privateers who truly stand out with their resilience and spirit.
Despite not having all the high-tech gear, these 80 privateers work tirelessly to compete at their best in the competition. They may not have a dedicated mechanic or chef on hand for support, but they are well-equipped with their own skills and resources to tackle any challenges that come their way. Their bikes have likely seen more descending than any factory team rider’s bike, giving them a unique perspective on the sport.
What sets these privateers apart is their commitment to their craft and love for downhill mountain biking. Each one has a story to tell about their favorite thing about their bike, showcasing their resilience and determination in the face of adversity. It’s clear that while factory teams may have more resources at their disposal, it’s the passion and dedication of these privateers that truly makes them stand out in Fort William.
