Man detained for alleged involvement in tip jar theft at Miami Beach establishment

A man was arrested on a petit theft charge for stealing money from the tip jar at a Miami Beach business, Local 10 News learned on Thursday. Jeffrey Lewis Scott, 33, was taken into custody on Wednesday and is accused of stealing $200 from the Bagel Time Cafe located at 3915 Alton Road.

Bagel Time owner Josh Nodel told Local 10 that the crook had seemed to only want someone else’s hard-earned cash and had gotten away with it. “He comes inside, goes to the counter, and goes to my wife,” Nodel said. “I guess she was giving him a free bagel.”

This time, all the thief appeared to want on his bagel was someone else’s hard-earned cash. To add insult to injury, he went into the tip jar where they keep large bills.

As of Thursday morning, Scott was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $2,500 bond. Copyright 2024 by WPLG Local10.com – All rights reserved.
