After winning the KCAC tournament, OKWU Baseball has secured their spot in the upcoming NAIA national tournament. This is the first conference championship title they have won since 2019. In order to advance to the national tournament, they had to win all four games in the KCAC tournament. They did just that by defeating Friends University twice, Tabor and conference leaders Kansas Wesleyan.
In the title game, Ashton Luerta delivered a standout performance on the mound for the Eagles. Facing only 12 batters, Luerta struck out 11 of them, showcasing his dominance. Head Coach Kirk Kelly praised Luerta’s performance during the game.
OKWU is eagerly awaiting the announcement of their first-round opponent for the NAIA tournament next Monday. Coach Kelly expressed his confidence in the team’s ability to potentially win a national championship this season.
More details regarding OKWU’s first-round opponent in the NAIA tournament will be revealed later this week after the announcement on Thursday. Keep an eye out for updates on their journey in the tournament.
