Recently, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) issued five recommendations to improve NCAP’s effectiveness. One of these recommendations is for NHTSA to finalize its NCAP roadmap, which outlines its strategy for updating and enhancing the program. Additionally, GAO suggests that NHTSA should communicate its progress in meeting deadlines for updating NCAP to ensure transparency and accountability. Lastly, GAO recommends that NHTSA provide information about the limitations of partial driving automation systems on its website to promote awareness and understanding of these technologies among consumers.
The implementation of these recommendations will help ensure that consumers have access to accurate and up-to-date information about vehicle safety features, including DAATs.
