Eclipse Science with Nikole Lewis: Sun Piano vs. Moon Piano

The In The Path of Totality Initiative, supported by the Simons Foundation, made it possible for the memorable Totality 2024 Festival to take place in Hannibal, NY. Following the Total Solar Eclipse and Laraaji’s performance of his Sun Piano/Moon Piano albums, attendees were treated to a unique experience.

Laraaji, an ambient/New Age music legend, shared insights about representing the moon’s energy in 12 musical notes. He reflected on his time at Howard University in the 1960s and his experience observing the Total Solar Eclipse. Dr. Nikole Lewis from Cornell University also participated in the event, discussing the necessary conditions for a Total Solar Eclipse to occur as well as topics like extraterrestrial life and Carl Sagan.

Overall, this festival was a remarkable event that brought together experts from different fields to share their knowledge with the public. It is clear that these individuals are passionate about their work and are committed to educating others about our universe.
