Taylor Pendrith achieved his first PGA Tour victory at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, making it a memorable day for him. Ben Kohles and Alex Noren finished in second and third place, respectively, at TPC Craig Ranch. Pendrith’s win guarantees him spots in upcoming events such as the Wells Fargo Championship, Memorial Tournament, and Travelers Championship. Kohles and Noren also earned their spots in the Wells Fargo Championship through the Aon Swing 5 system.
In the Corales Puntacana Championship, Zurich Classic, and Nelson, the top five players who accumulated the most points were Pendrith, Kohles, Noren, Billy Horschel, and Kevin Tway. Players who have won one of these tournaments qualify through the Swing 5 or Next 10 categories. Chad Ramey narrowly missed out on the top 5, finishing in sixth place.
The Aon Next 10 category saw minimal changes from the previous event. Shane Lowry moved into the top 10 after claiming victory at Zurich with Rory McIlroy. This system allows for a fair and competitive selection of players for upcoming tournaments by considering players’ FedExCup points while allowing for some flexibility to include new players who have not played well enough to finish in the top 50 last season.
