Taylor Pendrith clinches first victory at CJ Cup Byron Nelson with a two-shot swing on the final hole

At the CJ Cup Byron Nelson in McKinney, Texas, Taylor Pendrith secured his first PGA Tour title with a final round of 67. He took advantage of Ben Kohles’ mistakes on the final hole to secure the victory. Kohles had overtaken Pendrith with birdies on the 16th and 17th holes, but bogeyed the 18th after hitting his second shot into the rough. Pendrith capitalized on this opportunity, two-putting for birdie on the 18th to secure the win with a 4-under 67 and a total score of 23-under 261.

Kohles finished a stroke behind Pendrith and missed a crucial putt on the 18th that would have forced a playoff. Alex Noren, another player seeking his first PGA Tour victory, finished in third place with a score of 21 under. Noren impressed the crowd with a tee shot to 2 1/2 feet on the par-3 17th.

Aaron Rai and Matt Wallace also finished at 20 under or better, while Byeong Hun An finished at an impressive -5 under. The tournament was marked by several lead changes as Kohles and Pendrith battled it out throughout the day. Jake Knapp, who led after two rounds, finished at -9 under after shooting a final round of -70.

Pendrith’s victory was significant as it came in his 74th start on Tour, making it an important milestone in his career. The tournament was characterized by thrilling moments and competitive play from all players involved.

Overall, it was an exciting event with many twists and turns that kept fans engaged until the very end.
