Special Aerospace Services acquires secure communications company

In mid-April, Special Aerospace Services (SAS) was introduced to the government market by its new private equity owners, Godspeed Capital Management. With this support, SAS has quickly established itself as a major player in the space and missile defense industries. On Tuesday, the company announced its second acquisition – the purchase of Quintron Systems, a secure communications technology company that specializes in space and defense programs.

Quintron Systems has been in operation since 1970 and designs Voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology to ensure seamless communication during launch operations. According to data from USASpending.gov, Quintron recorded $1.2 million in unclassified prime contract obligations over the past year, with NASA accounting for 92% of that amount and the Army making up the remaining 8%. The DICES VoIP technology developed by Quintrion is used by NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center to establish direct communication with the International Space Station.

As part of the acquisition, Quintron’s president, Dominick Barry, has been appointed as the chief operating officer of SAS. Legal advice for Godspeed Capital was provided by Latham & Watkins LLP while The McLean Group served as the exclusive financial adviser to Quintrion. With these strategic acquisitions and strong partnerships in place, Special Aerospace Services is well-positioned for growth and success in the space and missile defense sectors.
