Cervantes Institute and Apple Music Partner to Discover the Greatest Spanish Lyrics of All Time

As part of a project celebrating Spanish Language Day on April 23, the Cervantes Institute and Apple Music have collaborated with influential artists to showcase the best Spanish song lyrics in history. Artists such as Andrés Calamaro, Bunbury, and Zahara have curated playlists featuring their favorite Spanish songs on Apple Music, complete with detailed comments, song fragments, and author names. Many of the songs included in the project have synchronized lyrics for users to follow along or sing.

The Cervantes Institute has also launched its profile as a curator on Apple Music, offering playlists such as ‘The word in music’, ‘Learn Spanish with music’, a selection by Spanish writer Luis Mateo Díez, and ‘What sounds at the Cervantes Institute’. The collaboration between the Cervantes Institute and Apple Music aims to highlight the richness of the Spanish language through various genres while promoting cultural heritage.

Luis García Montero, director of the Cervantes Institute, emphasized the importance of both high culture and popular culture in promoting the Spanish language during an event in Madrid. He stated that this project aims to celebrate not only the value of words in music but also contribute to learning Spanish for students worldwide. Montero was joined at the event by artists Rozalen and El Chojin.
