TikTok to Begin Identifying AI-Generated Content as Technology Gains Wider Use

TikTok has recently announced that it will be automatically labeling content created by artificial intelligence when it is uploaded from specific platforms. The social media platform aims to combat misinformation by making users aware of content that has been generated using AI technology.

The decision to label AI-created content was revealed on ABC’s “Good Morning America” by Adam Presser, TikTok’s Head of Operations & Trust and Safety. Presser emphasized the importance of allowing users to distinguish between fact and fiction, while also acknowledging the potential for AI to enhance creativity and audience engagement.

Previously, TikTok encouraged users to voluntarily label content created or edited using AI. However, the new policy will require automatic labeling for any content that includes realistic images, audio, or video generated by AI technology. This move reflects TikTok’s commitment to transparency and responsible content sharing on its platform.
