Indianapolis Colts, USA Swimming, and Indiana Sports Corp recently hosted an event called “Under The Surface,” where 150 local high school students from 11 area schools were invited to Colts headquarters. The half-day event included an activity fair and a panel discussion about the intersection of mental health and sports. Special guests included Olympic gold medalist Lilly King, U.S. swimmer Ashley Twichell, Colts Pro Bowl cornerback Kenny Moore II, and Colts Vice Chair & Owner Kalen Jackson.
The event was held in preparation for the upcoming U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Swimming taking place in Indianapolis this June. It was a unique opportunity for these students to learn about mental health and sports while interacting with successful athletes and professionals in the field. The conversation about mental health is being brought to the forefront with the support of the Colts and other organizations, challenging the stigma surrounding it.
Fans can support this cause by purchasing Kicking The Stigma gear at the Colts Pro Shop or online at Shop.Colts.com during off-season hours (Tuesday-Friday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.).
