Schafer from VCSU emerges victorious at trap shoot state championship

The VCSU Trap Club recently participated in the North Dakota State Collegiate Trap Shoot on April 27, showcasing their impressive skills and competitiveness. Kaden Schafer, a freshman majoring in Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences, stood out as the top performer of the day, winning 1st Place Male in Singles Trap with a score of 93 out of 100.

VCSU’s top shooters for the event included Schafer, Logan Heen, Brooke Gaudry, Grant Larson, and Derek Jacobs. Despite challenging windy conditions, these talented individuals demonstrated their dedication and passion for the sport.

Dr. Nick Galt, club advisor and professor at VCSU, expressed his excitement about the event and praised the competitiveness of the sport. He emphasized how great it was to compete against other collegiate teams in the region and to showcase VCSU’s talent on a national stage.

The success of this event has paved the way for an exciting new development at VCSU – an intercollegiate Shooting Sports team will be introduced in the upcoming fall season. Those interested in learning more about this new team or becoming involved with VCSU’s existing Trap Club can reach out to Dr. Galt at nicholas.galt@vcsu.edu or by calling 701-845-7459.
