New Solar Panel Plant Bringing 900 Jobs to Eastern North Carolina

In a major announcement, Boviet Solar, a Vietnamese-based company, has revealed its plans to build its first North American solar panel manufacturing plant in eastern North Carolina. The plant, located 85 miles east of Raleigh, will create over 900 jobs and help increase the company’s capacity worldwide for high-end solar panels and photovoltaic modules.

Boviet was established in 2013 and specializes in making solar panels and photovoltaic cells that are currently used in the U.S. by commercial, industrial, and residential customers. The company also has offices in Germany, China, and the U.S. Gov. Roy Cooper made the announcement at an East Carolina University news conference with other government officials.

Boviet CEO Jimmy Xie expressed his pride in bringing the company’s manufacturing excellence to the most significant solar market in North America while contributing to the state’s economy. According to a news release from Gov. Cooper, the Greenville plant will help increase Boviet’s capacity worldwide for high-end solar panels and photovoltaic modules.

The state Commerce Department revealed that Boviet also considered alternative locations for the plant in Phoenix and Atlanta but ultimately chose North Carolina due to its growing appeal as a hub for international companies looking to expand their operations in the United States. In addition to creating jobs, Boviet is set to receive $34.6 million in combined state and local incentives for the project.

VinFast, another Vietnamese company, is also building a plant in Chatham County that is expected to generate thousands of jobs further solidifying North Carolina’s position as an attractive location for foreign investment.

In summary, Boviet Solar’s decision to build its first North American solar panel manufacturing plant in eastern North Carolina is a significant development that will bring over 900 jobs and contribute positively to the state’s economy while increasing Boviet’s capacity worldwide for high-end solar panels and photovoltaic modules.
