CWI Celebrates First Expansion with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Health & Science Building

The College of Western Idaho recently held a beam signing event to celebrate the completion of its new Health & Science building at the Nampa campus. This marks the first expansion at the college since it opened in 2007. The Health & Science building will bring all professors and resources under one roof, centralizing the department and improving collaboration among students.

Former student Nichelle Boyce, who earned her degree in Surgical Technology from CWI, expressed her excitement about the expansion and its benefits for future students. She highlighted how having all professors in one location would make it easier for students to reach out for questions and answers. The new building will also streamline the learning process, making it more efficient for students to access all resources in one spot.

With the college currently spread out across different locations in the valley, consolidating the Health & Science department in the new building is expected to provide students with access to all resources in one spot. This is particularly beneficial for students pursuing healthcare careers as they will have everything they need under one roof. Collaboration is a crucial aspect of student learning, and CWI views this as a key area for expansion.

Vice Chair Trustee Cherie Buckner-Webb emphasized the urgent need for more healthcare professionals not only in Idaho but globally. CWI is preparing students to meet this demand and serve communities around the world. The new Health & Science building represents a significant step towards meeting this need and providing a centralized and efficient learning environment for students.

The consolidation of the Health & Science department will also provide an opportunity for CWI to expand its offerings beyond just health-related programs. This could include programs related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) that are becoming increasingly important in today’s job market.

Overall, the completion of the Health & Science building marks an exciting milestone for CWI as it continues to grow and expand its offerings to meet the needs of its students and community members alike.
