Tampa Tarpons, the Single-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, announced that infielder Oswald Peraza will begin a rehab assignment on Tuesday during a doubleheader against Clearwater. Peraza has been sidelined from game action for eight weeks due to a subscapular strain in his right shoulder, which he initially experienced during spring training.
According to manager Aaron Boone, Peraza still has a significant amount of time before being activated. Boone stated that the infielder will need to go through a full spring training of games to prepare, which means he will likely have a few more weeks of rehab ahead of him. Despite this, Peraza has been throwing again since early April and has played in 70 games for the Yankees over the past two seasons, posting a batting line of .216/.298/.306 with three home runs, 11 doubles, 16 RBI, and 23 runs scored.
