In the third session of his World Championship semi-final, Welsh qualifier Jak Jones took control of the match against 2015 champion Stuart Bingham by opening up a 13-10 lead. Despite Bingham’s early lead, Jones reeled off five consecutive frames, boosted by three half-century breaks. However, only seven of the eight scheduled frames were completed due to the protracted nature of some frames.
Meanwhile, Kyren Wilson also holds a lead in his semi-final match against David Gilbert, with the match set to conclude later in the day. Jones, currently ranked 44th in the world, defeated Judd Trump in the quarter-finals and is aiming to become the lowest-ranked finalist since Shaun Murphy in 2005.
Bingham made several errors throughout the match and struggled to find his rhythm. Despite a century break in the final frame, Bingham’s loose safety shots and missed opportunities allowed Jones to capitalize and take control of the match. Jones remained unfazed by the pressure and punished Bingham for his mistakes, putting himself in a strong position to reach the final.
