Lady Vols basketball coach Kim Caldwell has welcomed Nolan Harvath to her team as the new director of sports performance. Harvath, who previously worked with the West Virginia strength and conditioning staff since December 2020, was officially named for his new role.
Caldwell expressed excitement about Harvath’s hiring, stating that he is dedicated to helping the team achieve its goals and become the hardest working team in the country. She believes that Harvath will push the team to improve every day.
Harvath replaces Bryan Tatum, who was not retained from the previous staff. He most recently worked as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for the WVU football team, starting in spring 2022. Prior to his time at West Virginia, he served as the director of strength and conditioning at Glenville State from 2018-2020, where he also held the title of assistant athletic director from 2019-2020.
Harvath holds a degree in exercise science from Southern Indiana University and a master’s degree in athletic coaching education from WVU. He began his career as a strength and conditioning coach at high schools in Fairmont, West Virginia before moving on to work with Pro Performance in Morgantown. He later became a strength and conditioning intern at WVU before joining the football team staff and working with baseball teams at both WVU and Charleston University.
His wealth of experience and knowledge make him an excellent fit for Lady Vols basketball program, where he is expected to have a positive impact on team performance by pushing them harder each day towards their goals.
