Jolena Quarzo, a freshman at NC State, is set to compete on the international stage tomorrow at the 2024 World Athletics Cross Country Championships in Belgrade, Serbia. She will be representing the USATF Women’s Junior Cross Country Team in the women’s U20 6k race.

The championships take place on March 30 at Friendship Park in Belgrade, Serbia and will feature athletes from around the world vying for top honors. Live results will be available for spectators to follow along with the action.

Quarzo earned her spot on the USATF Junior team after an impressive performance at the USATF Cross Country Championships in January. She completed the 6k race in 20:44.0, securing her place on the National squad. Prior to joining the USATF team, Quarzo had competed unattached in two races during the 2023 cross country season for NC State’s Wolfpack.

Tomorrow’s competition begins with the women’s U20 6k race at 6:00 a.m (ET). Each country is permitted six entries into each race, with the top four finishers scoring points for their team. Quarzo will be looking to contribute to Team USA’s efforts to secure the gold medal in this event.
