New England is a popular summer destination, with two local spots making it onto Travel + Leisure’s list of the 15 best places to visit worldwide in July. The travel publication highlighted New Hampshire and Newport, Rhode Island as must-see destinations for the month.
New Hampshire is full of summer excursions, with activities such as boating, swimming, hiking, camping, and fly fishing available throughout the state. Whether you prefer a cabin by a lake or a mountainside lodge, there’s something for everyone in the White Mountains, Great North Woods, and Lakes Region. The Lakes Region alone has over 270 bodies of water, including popular Lake Winnipesaukee.
Newport, Rhode Island is also a great summer destination. Known for its opulent Gilded Age mansions and beautiful beaches, Newport offers a range of activities for visitors and residents alike. Scenic walks along Cliff Walk provide stunning views of the ocean and historic homes while bike rides along Ocean Drive offer beautiful views of the coastline. Visitors can also browse farmers markets or have picnics on one of Newport’s many beaches before attending the annual Newport Classical Music Festival from July 4-21.
