North Central Missouri College’s robotics automation technology team, consisting of Keaton Pettlon and Zachary Walker from Maryville, recently won first place in the Missouri SkillsUSA Robotics Automation Technology Competition at State Tech in Linn. The team secured a spot to compete at the National SkillsUSA conference in Atlanta, GA, from June 24-28.
The team showcased their skills by completing their contest skill challenge in record time, becoming the only team to successfully complete it. Their exceptional performance was guided by Rick Sharp, an instructor at NCMC specializing in industrial technology. Sharp commended Pettlon and Walker for their strong competitive spirit and potential to excel at the national level.
With their success in the Missouri SkillsUSA competition, Pettlon and Walker are now among the top two percent of the nation in the Robotics Automation Technology contest. Sharp expressed confidence in their abilities and is optimistic about their prospects at the upcoming national conference.
