Statement by SIA on Legislation from the Senate Commerce Committee Funding CHIPS and Science Programs

The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) issued a statement on April 30, 2024, in support of provisions included in legislation pending before the Senate Commerce Committee. Vice President of Government Affairs David Isaacs emphasized the importance of funding critical CHIPS & Science Act programs, which would promote innovation and resiliency throughout the semiconductor supply chain.

The SIA is the voice of the semiconductor industry, one of America’s top export industries. As a key driver of economic strength, national security, and global competitiveness, SIA represents 99% of the U.S. semiconductor industry by revenue and nearly two-thirds of non-U.S. chip firms. Their mission is to strengthen leadership in semiconductor manufacturing, design, and research by working with Congress, the Administration, and key industry stakeholders around the world to encourage policies that fuel innovation, propel business growth and drive international competition.
