The latest “Feeding the Economy” report released by over 30 agricultural groups in Indiana has shown that the state’s agriculture and food industries have a total economic output of $219.75 billion, with a direct economic impact of $87.96 billion. The report includes stats for Indiana’s ag and food sectors, including total jobs, total wages, total taxes, and exports.
There were almost the same number of jobs in agriculture and manufacturing agricultural products in the United States in 2024. The number of direct jobs in food and agriculture increased by almost 800,000 since the 2020 report. Manufacturing of agricultural products now accounts for almost 20% of America’s manufacturing jobs, showing rapid growth in this sector.
The report emphasizes the significant role that the food and agriculture sectors play in supporting the U.S. economy. It helps the public and policymakers better understand how these industries contribute to the overall economy.
