Hailey Van Lith, a talented basketball player who played for LSU this season and made it to the Elite Eight before losing to Iowa, has announced that she will be transferring to TCU for her fifth and final season. Van Lith spent three seasons with Louisville, reaching a Final Four and another Elite Eight before moving to LSU to play under coach Kim Mulkey.
During her time with Louisville and LSU, Van Lith averaged 14.5 points, four rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game as a wing for Louisville and transitioned to a point guard position at LSU. She is known for her exceptional statistics as the only active Division I player with over 1,900 points, 500 rebounds, and 350 assists.
TCU recently made an appearance in the AP Top 25 but faced challenges due to injuries that resulted in forfeiting two games and holding open tryouts to add players to the roster. Despite these difficulties, TCU started the season strong with a 13-0 record, including a win over BYU in the Big 12 Conference opener. However, a six-game losing streak followed by the forfeits affected their overall record, finishing at 21-12 with a 6-12 conference record under second-year coach Mark Campbell.
Van Lith will be entering TCU as a graduate student and has been actively involved with USA Basketball. She is also a candidate for the 3×3 national team that will be competing at the Paris Olympics this summer.
In conclusion, Van Lith’s decision to transfer to TCU presents an exciting opportunity for both parties as she brings valuable experience and exceptional skills to the program.
